As someone who uses mostly HEDT and Workstation systems, Intel badly needs something in the HEDT range. All of the Intel Consumer processors are 8x P-Core only. The only 16-Core Intel has available is the W5-2465X which is significantly more money and a workstation class part. AMD is going to continue taking Intel market-share until Intel clues in and starts releasing Consumer/HEDT processors with 12x P-Core and 16x P-Core. I am looking at adding two additional systems in the next 24 months, and unfortunately even though I am an Intel fanboy, I am probably going AMD, since Intel doesn't have HEDT any more. In the consumer parts 7950X vs 14900K, Intel has to go with 24 cores to compete with AMD's 16 cores. I don't want E-cores. I'm not a laptop user.
